Northern Neck Whirlwind Tour of Urbanna Oyster Festival Weekend

Another whirlwind tour of the Urbanna Oyster Festival this past weekend!  The weekend started early in rainy Urbanna on Thursday evening at a private”locals only” party in the heart of town. The weather may have been rainy, but the locals were ready to pre-party and scarf down tons of oysters.

Motown, oldies, and Nelly ruled the night with everyone gearing up for the big day on Friday. Thanks to my client Vicki and her partner Rick for the great hospitality and the chance to hang with some really cool locals while providing them with a dance groove to start the long Urbanna Oyster Festival weekend.

In bucolic Tappahonnock, just a few miles down the road, a party was brewing at the Essex Inn Bed and Breakfast. Cindi Green and her husband-to-be Chris, were flying into town from Kansas, to be married and have their reception at the coolest new wedding place in Essex County. A mobile DJ herself, it was quite the compliment to be chosen out of the dozens of DJs available in Richmond.

After her vows were said at the Inn, the party commenced with my music and her karaoke computer. This gal could sing like Etta James, and she had actually fronted a blues band as their lead vocalist before settling in as the owner of her own mobile DJ business.

Driving back to Richmond Saturday night to play at one of my favorite places- Celebrations at the Reservoir- and work with one of my favorite people, Christina Myers, a mainstay at Celebrations, and one of the best reception coordinators in Richmond.  It was the last party of the season at Celebrations,  and it was quite the wedding reception for  the lucky couple smart enough to book one of the last warm event dates at the pool pavilion at Celebrations.  Many thanks to all the people who made this a memorable event, and especially to Daniel Marks of Third Eye Studios, one of the best and most enjoyable people to work with in the business.

LK Events and Design Rocked the House!

LK Events and Design did an amazing job tonight!

Lindsay Averette of LK Events and Design helped me keep over 200 people happy and dancing the night away last night at Dover Hall, Goochland’s own “cozy little” castle.  As a DJ, it’s so important to have that vital link at a large event – especially one that lasts close to seven hours!

Between Mosaic’s fantastic food, their bartenders pumping out kegs of Goochland’s own Lickinghole Creek  brews,  and Lindsay’s FANTASTIC organizational skills, my job was easy compared to theirs.

My bride and groom – Stephanie and Chris – were two of the coolest people in the world to work for, and the fact that the room was full of firefighters, teachers, cops, EMS personnel, and various other assorted party people, this was just a Dance Party waiting to happen.

Props to everyone that helped make this massive event a success,  but extra special thanks to Nathan the bartender and my NACE cohort, Lindsay,  I’m sure Dover Hall ain’t seen no party like that in a looong time!
